Girl Dad Workshop - Strengthening the Dad/Daughter Relationship

"Girl Dad Workshop by ROX: Strengthening the Father/Daughter Relationship":

Program Description:
As girls grow up, it can feel more and more difficult for adults and girls to connect. 39% of girls say they are sad or depressed for most of the week, and the rates of daily sadness have tripled for 5th and 6th grade girls and more than doubled for 7th and 8th grade girls. So what can you do to help your girls? When girls have fathers, who encourage their creative, athletic, and academic pursuits, they are likely to be happier, more well-adjusted, and more confident.

Join Ruling Our eXperiences (ROX), a community partner and local nonprofit, for a fun and empowering workshop for dads and their girls, grades 4-5. At this workshop, you will start in your peer groups – with girls getting to discuss how to find their voice and dads learning simple strategies for communicating with their girls. Then, together, you will get a safe archery lesson and target practice from the Ohio Division of Wildlife.

As part of registration, each adult will receive a copy of the book “Girls Without Limits: Helping Girls Succeed in Relationships, Academics, Careers, and Life.”

When:
• Saturday August 17th | 9:30 am - 12:00 pm

Where:
• Philip Heit Center (150 W. Main St, New Albany, OH)

Registration Info:
• $65/pair of attendees
• For rising 4th & 5th grade girls along with a male caregiver

About the Instructor:
Ruling Our eXperiences (ROX) is the national nonprofit leader in research, education and programming focused on girls. ROX researches the lived experiences of girls in grades 5-12, implements evidence-based programming for girls and provides education on girls’ diverse experiences through professional development, adult/teen relationship-building workshops and data-driven resources. Their work addresses the complex challenges facing girls in adolescence, including drops in confidence, unhealthy relationships, coercion and sexual violence, and barriers to leadership and career opportunities. Currently 400+ schools across the country implement the ROX Program for Girls.
