Program Description:
Dive into the art and science of sourdough baking in this interactive, hands-on class! From maintaining a live starter to shaping and baking your own beautiful loaf, this class will equip you with the skills and confidence to make sourdough bread at home. You’ll master essential techniques like stretching, folding, and scoring while uncovering the fascinating magic of fermentation and natural leavening.
As part of the class, you’ll receive your own sourdough starter, a detailed guide for feeding and caring for it, and tried-and-true recipes to continue your sourdough journey. Whether you’re a beginner or looking to refine your skills, this class is the perfect blend of fun and learning.
When:
• Sunday, March 23 | 2:00 - 4:00 pm
Where:
• Philip Heit Center (150 W. Main St, New Albany, OH)
• Demo Kitchen on the first floor
Fee:
• $75/person
• We encourage ages 10-17 to attend with an adult. If you have a child that would like to attend this class with an adult, please send an email to programs@healthynewalbany.org to get approval.
About the Instructor:
Chelsea Hall is a passionate sourdough baker and the owner of Rise & Run Bread Co., a microbakery specializing in sourdough bread and treats. Chelsea has honed her craft, combining her love for baking with her expertise in health and wellness.
When she’s not baking, Chelsea works as a physical therapist and enjoys running. She and her husband, Ian, are raising their two children in New Albany. You can find more about her baking journey on Instagram @riseandrunbreadco and follow her for tips, recipes, and inspiration!

You will need to bring a banneton basket or a bowl (about 1-1.5 qt) lined with a tea towel.
Attendees are invited to bring a take-home container in case there are any leftovers from class.
