Adventure Eagles - Spring '26

Program Description:
Adventure Eagles is a class for students who love exploring the outdoors around New Albany. We will build shelters, make fires, learn about early survival skills, and explore our outdoor nature areas near New Albany's school campus. Participants will need to dress for the weather, work cooperatively with others, and remain open to new experiences.

Location: Swickard Woods

Arrival Options:
• For students at NAPLS Intermediate School - Mr. Barnes member will collect students afterschool and escort them directly to Swickard Woods. To opt-in, simply choose this option on the Permission Form during registration.
• Students who do not attend NAPLS Intermediate School - can be dropped off at Swickard Woods right before the program starts.

Registration Info:
• $195/student (for 6-week spring series)

About the Instructors:
Pete Barnes is the E3 Learning Lab STEM teacher for New Albany schools, serving students in grades K-12. He has taught in New Albany since 2004 and has 28 years of total teaching experience. Pete is involved with many STEM related activities around New Albany, including an after school STEM club, the Intermediate school composting program, the high school environmental club, and the school science fair. He is a Level One Certified Wildlife Tracker, a licensed drone pilot, and a member of the City of New Albany's Sustainability Board. He lives in New Albany with his wife Amy and his teenage children Sophia and Luke.

Note:

Special Instructions:
• Wear comfortable clothing and close-toed shoes/boots that are good for walking, ok to get muddy and wet, and are appropriate for the weather forecast. (Be sure to pack a coat or jacket when needed)
• Feel free to pack boots/shoes for your child to change into after school if preferred.
• We recommend including these items in your child's backpack: a reusable water bottle, a small towel, sunscreen and/or bug spray (if needed), any clothing/shoes to change into.

Weather Note:
• HNA Nature Classes are all about embracing the natural world - even if it's a little cold or wet!
• In the event of significant inclement weather, HNA classes will typically be rescheduled or canceled.
• Weather decisions will be made on the day of the class and communicated via email.
