Program Description:
Prepare to babysit with confidence! This comprehensive Babysitter Safety Certification Class is designed for responsible individuals who care for children. Participants will learn essential childcare skills including basic first aid, emergency response, safe sleep practices, age-appropriate activities, and how to handle common caregiving challenges.
Whether you’re a first-time babysitter or looking to refresh your skills, this class provides the knowledge and confidence to keep children safe and healthy. A certificate of completion will be awarded upon finishing the course.
What to Expect:
- This is a hands-on skills class. Participants will practice on CPR manikins and AED trainers.
- A skills evaluation and short written assessment are required to receive AHA certification.
- Certification cards (valid 2 years) will be issued upon successful completion of the course.
- No prior medical experience is required — this class is open to all community members.

Dr. Leticia N. Parris MBA BSN IHP, is a highly credentialed healthcare professional with expertise in nursing, healthcare practice, and integrated health. With a Doctor of Business Administration, a Master of Business Administration, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Dr. Parris brings a unique combination of clinical knowledge and professional leadership to every course she teaches.
As a certified American Heart Association (AHA) instructor, Dr. Parris is passionate about empowering community members of all ages with the lifesaving skills they need to act confidently in emergencies. Her approachable teaching style and real-world experience make her classes both informative and engaging for participants at every level.

Special Instructions:
- Wear comfortable, casual clothing that allows you to kneel and move freely on the floor.
- Arrive 10 minutes before the scheduled start time to complete any remaining registration paperwork.
- Participants under 12 must bring a signed parent/guardian waiver (available at registration).
- Please inform the instructor of any physical limitations or health conditions prior to class.
- A valid photo ID or completed registration confirmation is required for check-in.
