Program Description:
Storybook Snacks: A Parent & Me Cooking Adventure (Grades 1–3)
Bring your favorite children’s books to life—right in the kitchen!
Join us for a magical, hands-on cooking class designed specifically for junior chefs and their parent partners. In this special class, we will combine the joy of storytelling with the fun of food as we recreate whimsical snacks inspired by beloved classic children's books! Your child will learn that reading can be delicious.
This class is all about collaborative fun, confidence-building, and exploring new foods in a safe, low-stress environment with zero hot stoves or sharp knives.
When:
• Tuesday, October 13, 2026 | 4:00pm - 5:00 pm
Where:
• Philip Heit Center (150 W. Main St, New Albany, OH)
• Demo Kitchen on the first floor
Registration Info:
• $45/student
• Grades 1-3
• All children registered must attend with an adult
About the Instructor:
Christina Allen founded Food Leads in 2021 from a deeply personal place. She grew up watching people she loved—especially her dad—struggle with Type 2 diabetes. When she learned just how disproportionately this disease impacts Black families, the statistics stopped feeling like numbers and started feeling like neighbors, aunties, uncles, and friends.
Food Leads was created for community—rooted in culture, family, and the belief that everyone deserves simple, joyful access to healthier food. It exists to make managing diabetes a little less overwhelming and to make wellness feel possible for Columbus families.
