Everyday Sourdough: A Beginner Workshop

Program Description:
Curious about sourdough but not sure where to start? This
hands-on beginner workshop is designed to take the intimidation out of
homemade bread baking. You’ll learn the essential techniques behind
naturally leavened sourdough — from maintaining a starter and mixing
dough to stretching, folding, shaping, and baking a beautiful loaf at
home.
Perfect for complete beginners, this relaxed and approachable class
focuses on practical skills, simple methods, and building confidence
in your own kitchen. Each participant will work with dough during
class and leave with sourdough starter, detailed instructions, and the
knowledge to continue baking at home.

When:
• Sunday, October 25 | 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Where:
• Philip Heit Center (150 W. Main St, New Albany, OH)
• Demo Kitchen on the first floor

About the Instructor:
Jennifer Sydes is the baker behind Ginger Cat Sourdough Co., a small-batch cottage bakery specializing in naturally leavened sourdough breads. She has lived in the New Albany community with her family for over 16 years and works full-time as an occupational therapist. What began as a curiosity about traditional breadmaking quickly grew into a passion for sourdough and the craft of slow fermentation. Jennifer loves sharing what she has learned and enjoys teaching others how approachable sourdough baking can be.

Note:

Special Instructions:
Participants are asked to bring a medium/large mixing bowl.
