Programs
Program Description:
The "Eat the Rainbow" Garden Pizza Challenge (Grades 4–6)
In this action-packed, hands-on cooking class, students will step into the kitchen to stretch their own dough, master essential chef knife skills (using kid-safe knives), and craft a vibrant, gourmet personal pizza from scratch.
But there’s a twist! Chefs will be challenged to "Eat the Rainbow" by designing a beautiful edible masterpiece using at least four different colors of fresh, seasonal vegetables. Through fun trivia and a hands-on topping bar, we will explore the "superpowers" of phytonutrients—learning how different colored foods fuel our bodies, boost our brains, and provide long-lasting energy.
When:
• Tuesday, November 10, 2026 | 3:30pm - 5:00 pm
Where:
• Philip Heit Center (150 W. Main St, New Albany, OH)
• Demo Kitchen on the first floor
Registration Info:
• $45/student
• Grades 4-6
About the Instructor:
Christina Allen founded Food Leads in 2021 from a deeply personal place. She grew up watching people she loved—especially her dad—struggle with Type 2 diabetes. When she learned just how disproportionately this disease impacts Black families, the statistics stopped feeling like numbers and started feeling like neighbors, aunties, uncles, and friends.
Food Leads was created for community—rooted in culture, family, and the belief that everyone deserves simple, joyful access to healthier food. It exists to make managing diabetes a little less overwhelming and to make wellness feel possible for Columbus families.
